Principal's Corner

Dear DT Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Whether you are a returning family or joining our community for the first time, I am thrilled to welcome you. Digital Tech is a place where students are challenged, supported, and celebrated every day, and I am honored to step into the role of principal to lead our incredible team in this work.

Many of you know me from my journey here at DT, which began in the fall of 2013. Over the past 13 years, I have served as a special education math teacher, Special Education Coordinator, Student Council faculty advisor, and most recently, Assistant Principal. In every role, my focus has remained the same: partnering with our community to ensure every student receives an exceptional education that prepares them for post-secondary success.

As I begin my first year as principal, my core belief remains steadfast: all students can learn and grow when provided with the right support, opportunities, and encouragement. I cannot wait to watch our students thrive this year and to support them every step of the way.

We are eager to welcome everyone back next week, alongside several fantastic new faculty and staff members! To ensure a smooth start to the year, please carefully review the critical information below about the program and Yondr Pouch pick-up, as well as the state-required cell phone/electronic device policy.

Cell Phone/Electronic Device Policy

As you know, all New York State schools are required to have a policy that prohibits the use of personal internet-enabled devices during the school day. We are grateful for your partnership in a successful implementation of this policy last school year. Our school's policy aligns with the New York City Department of Education's requirements and Chancellor's Regulation A-413. On September 9, students will receive their Yondr Pouches to store their devices in. In order to comply with the state law, students are not allowed to use their cell phones on school grounds at any point during the school day. Please review the key documents below.

Meet Our Assistant Principal, IA

Sabrina Reyes, Assistant Principal IA

Greetings DT Community,

I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the Interim Acting Assistant Principal at Digital Arts and Cinema Technology High School. My name is Sabrina Reyes, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this school community.

With nearly two decades of experience in education, I have taught Social Studies across grades 6–12 and served as an Advisor, Grade Team Leader, and Testing Coordinator.

Prior to entering education, I worked in the criminal justice field, including with the U.S. Pretrial Services Office and as a Senior Court Liaison. These experiences have shaped my commitment to communication, collaboration, and building strong relationships.

As a first-generation Latina born and raised in New York City, I understand firsthand the importance of community, connection, and having a strong support system. I believe that students thrive when families, teachers, support staff, and school leadership work together. I am committed to supporting our staff, partnering with families, listening to our students, and helping create a school community where everyone feels welcomed, seen, respected, and valued.

I look forward to getting to know our students, families, faculty, and staff, building trust, and working together to support the academic, social, and emotional success of every student. I am truly excited to begin this journey with all of you!

Student Programs and the First Day of School

Student programs are available in your New York City Schools Account (NYCSA). Not sure how to access your account? Get started here. If you need assistance, please contact Parent Coordinator Ms. Fox.

Students can also pick up their program cards on Wednesday, September 9 in the school's auditorium according to the following schedule:

Grade 9 at 9:00am (Grade 9 students will also have their ID photos taken)
Grades 10-12 at 11:00am

The first full day of school is Thursday, September 10th. Students are expected to report to school in uniform. Students should enter through the main entrance on Baltic Street at 8:05am. Period 1 begins at 8:15am.

Important Information

Annual school forms including the Out Lunch form, are now online. Please be sure to update the forms for your student as soon as possible, especially if they plan to participate in Out Lunch.

As a reminder, families can purchase uniforms for the upcoming year here. Uniforms will be delivered to the school, and students and families will be notified when they are available for pickup.

Make sure your child is up-to-date on required immunizations. New York State Public Health Law requires students to get certain vaccines in order to attend school.
